Trip details on Mist Mountain: Decided to take a day off during the week and enjoy some really nice fall weather. Mist mountain has two routes, one is the Kane scramble route the other is a hiking route. Since I was going solo I decided to play it safe and do the hiking route. I was at the trailhead by 9 and hurried getting ready since there were also hunters parked on the other side of the road and I wanted to make sure I was leaving first and get a head start in case they were going in the same direction. Since this is prime bear territory I jelled a lot until at least above treeline. There was a little bit of snow from the col to the bowl leading to the summit ridge but the bowl itself was snow free. When reaching the ridge, it’s a short walk and easy scramble to the top. I reached the summit at about noon and was able to even give Tessa a call to let her know I was safe. I had gorgeous weather this day and enjoyed the summit vista’s for a while until I was getting slightly cold. From the summit I dropped straight into a different aspect of the bowl and hiked back to the col and down into the trees. In the trees I could sense an animal so I made sure I made lots of noise until reaching the car since I had no intention of having a face-to-face with a big grizzly.
